Chicken Solyanka Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 700g chicken
  • 60g pearl barley
  • 3 potatoes
  • 3 pickles (marinated cucumbers)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 onion
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Dill to taste
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Rinse and dry the chicken, then cut it into pieces and put it in a deep pot.
  2. Rinse and dry the carrot and onion. Add them to the pot with the pearl barley. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and cook until the pearl barley is fully cooked.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  4. While the chicken and pearl barley are cooking, rinse and peel the potatoes, cut them into small cubes and add them to the pot.
  5. Remove the carrot and onion from the pot once they are cooked. Cool them, then cut them into thin strips and add them to the pot with the chicken and pearl barley.
  6. Take the marinated pickles, grate them on a medium grater, add hot water and let it sit for a while.
  7. About 3 minutes before the solyanka is fully cooked, add the grated pickles, spices and let it sit for a bit.
  8. Serve the hot solyanka with chopped dill sprinkled on top. Enjoy!
